Important News
At the council meeting held last Tuesday we
discovered that the financial position of the Chaplaincy was in a difficult
situation. This year all the eight congregations have raised far less in their
fund raising efforts compared to 2011 and the weekly collections are also short
of the 2011 totals. This means that we are having to spend our cash reserves
and these will not last forever.
So where do we go from here?
- It is vital that anyone paying tax in the UK must use the envelope scheme because this will enable us to claim back 25% from the tax office. You don’t have to do this. It will all be done for you as long as you put your offering in the envelopes on the table. (next to the hymn books)
- You have to ask yourself whether €5 per week is enough. I know times are tough but let’s do the maths. There are about 200 people in all the churches and if they each give €5 we will raise €1 000 per week and €50 000 in the year. We need well over twice as much as that!!
- We all need to encourage our friends to come to any of our fund raising efforts so that other people are helping to keep the church going in the Costa Blanca. Better still we need to encourage them to come to church on a regular basis.
- The church treasurer will always be happy to hear that the church will be remembered in our wills.
- Finally we need to think about this problem, talk about it, pray about it and let your warden, councillor or priest know your conclusions.
Thank you all for your commitment up to
this point.
